As news breaks that Wendy’s has moved its tomato purchases from Florida to a supplier in Mexico where slavery was uncovered in 2013, farmworkers and consumers around the country are responding to express their deep dismay and outrage. The story, broken by Harper’s, confirms that the fast food giant is not only refusing to join the Fair Food Program and be part of strengthening and expanding human rights for farmworkers — but Wendy's is also now actively creating a market where abuse of farmworkers can flourish. As a network allying with farmworkers, this news only strengthens our resolve to boycott Wendy’s and call on our communities to do the same.
To channel this sentiment and build on the energy of the Workers’ Voice Tour, the CIW has declared April the #BoycottWendys Month of Action. This April, join thousands upon thousands of people of conscience around the country in boycotting Wendy’s — and take action to make sure Wendy’s knows about it!
